By rail: To JR Shintoku Station by JR takes about 2 hours from Sapporo or 80min from Chitose. Shikaoi-cho is 20 km east of JR Shintoku Station. The station is about 20 mins from center of Shikaoi by Takushoku bus or taxi.
At 810m above sea level, Lake Shikaribetsu (the lake in the sky) is Hokkaido highest alpine lake.
It becomes frozen during December. Then "Phantom Village" called Lake Shikaribetsu Kotan appears
in winter months. Late Jan to early March.
Could not believed by eyes.

Direction to the open-air bath on the ice.
This open-air bath on ice have refresh us physically and spiritually.
Initially, i hesitated to strip and get down because i was already shivering. But this
was my bucketlist and could be the only great chance.
My brother enjoying in the hot tub, while me shivering, to capture this great shot.
And now was my turned.
You could feel the coolness on the upper body and lower body absorbing the heat.
That was indeed a wonderful experience you need to try.
