Sarawak Kuching City river, Jalan Main Bazaar, Vivacity Megamall

Booked two hotels for a 5 Days 4 nights to Kuching, and here we come. Itinerary will be decide after inquiry with the local/taxi driver or the hotel staffs.

First two nights at Grand Margherita Hotel (Weekend more expensive)
Next two nights at Ranee Boutique Suites  (Weekday and Weekend about same price)

Wow!!! Definitely you will love it!
The view from the room race up our spirit. Unload and we set off for exploration.

Should be 3 pm, we started to stroll around in the vicinity for clues of  what
will be available next few days. Glance through tripadvisor website, i have an impression what
Sarawak available for visitors. Attractions are subject to individual preference. For me, i usually
skip visiting museum.

(Map 1) Get out from the back gate, and the gorgeous Miss Sarawak river is waiting.
Enjoyable jogging or relaxing route.

Does the hotel look old with it yellowish color and sketching art work?
Don't judge a book by it cover!

(Map 2) You can see Cruise and boat rest around.
River taxi available along the river.

Does my Body language signal the joy of holiday?

Is this call River-taxi? You can ride across the river with a small token.

(Map 3) Another popular hotel along river, across the street of "Jalan Tunku" - Hilton Hotel.

(Map 4) LOOK! There is a Cafe..... James Brooke Bistro & Cafe.

(Map 5) Which one capture your attention? The (1) temple or the (2) landmark structure?
(1) The chinese like house to be sitting on a hill and commanding the view over the water (river). It epitomize prosperity. This Tua Pek Kong Temple was one of the few buildings that survived the 1884 Great Fire of Kuching and is said to have the best Feng Shui location in the city.
(2) Hornbill Fountain -  nothing impressive, i am more impress by the Hornbill Artwork (below).

(Map 6) Remind me of Penang beautiful Street Art

When you wish to have a bigger boat ride than the River-taxi, consider this.

(Map 7) Both ride (River-taxi & Boat-cruise) cannot satisfy you.... No worries, hop on this huge
Sarawak-river-cruise for a Sunset and fulfilling ride to discover Kuching.

(Map 8) Across the river, New State Legislative Complex - Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN)
of Sarawak. It is meeting place where State the State Assemblymen from all
over Sarawak will meet and preside over debates & passing of laws. The distinctive "Payung"
roof of the complex is icon of Sarawak

(Map 10) Waterfront Hotel and Parkson mall along "Jalan Main Bazaar" & adjacent to
"Jalan Barrack". There is a bus stop which i marked on the map "BUS"
Our 2nd hotel, Ranee Boutique Suite is nearby (Map 9).

This nicely craft wall is beside the bus stop.

What does this lorry delivered? Indian stuffs?
Here is the street "Jalan Gambir" adjacent to Indian Street (below).  A spot with many shops
selling shoes, clothes, etc. You can hop in for air-con at the mall when the weather is demanding.

(Map 11) You can try local dishes along Carpenter Street if you hungry. There seem to be
many Cafe and Restaurants mushrooming here.

Hong San Si Temple.

If i would know this early, i will rent and cycle (save time), then to walk. Anyway i
am also fortunate as it rain heavy that day.

(Map 12) Opposite Riverside Majestic, is RiverBank Suite. As rain poured intermittently. We ran and landed using their shelter. That was godsend blessing, we found Tourism Malaysia Office (level 2), which we manage gathered many informative guide with the help of a helpful lady staff.

Time is running fast, by then already 530 pm, and we returned to hotel for

What's next for the night? Without further ado, get a taxi (RM$25) and arrived at Sarawak
largest and newest Shopping mall - Vivacity Mega Mall. The journey was around 15 mins.
The cinema was still under renovation during our visit (July 16).

There was this food court which served nice local delicacy which we love.

Cheap and awesome!
